1. Jersey (Telugu)

Starring Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles, this sports drama was rated among the best films of the year by several critics. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film is set to have its Hindi remake of the same title. Starring Shahid Kapoor as the protagonist, alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor, this film will hit theaters in April.

2. Anniyan (Tamil)

This psychological action thriller, starring Vikram and Sadha, won eight Filmfare Awards, six State Film Awards and also won a national award. According to reports, Ranveer Singh and director S Shankar are teaming up for the yet untitled Hindi remake of this movie.

3. Great Indian cuisine (Malayalam)

Revolving around a young bride, played by Nimisha Sajayan, this comedy-drama received universal critical acclaim and won several prestigious awards. Sanya Malhotra, who would play the role of the protagonist in the Hindi remake of the film, announced the project on her social media account. Even though there were a number of producers in the race to get the rights to this film, it was Harman Baweja and Vicky Bahri who acquired the final rights to this film.

4. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (Telugu)

Starring Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in key roles, this action drama not only became one of the highest-grossing Telugu films but also became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year. Its official Hindi remake, Shehzada, stars Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan in the lead roles. Directed by Rohit Dhawan, the film is set to release in November this year.

Just a day after the release of the film, the Hindi remake of the film was announced and the remake rights were purchased by Endemol Shine India and Murad Khetani. According to the sources, Salman Khan has been cast for the lead role in the film.

8. Vikram Veda (Tamil)

Inspired by Indian folk tale Baital Pachisi, this neo-noir action thriller stars Madhavan, Vijay Sethupathi, Shraddha Srinath, Kathir and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in key roles. In 2018, directorial duo Pushkar-Gayathri announced that they would also helm the Hindi remake of the film of the same title. In 2019, it was later confirmed that Saif Ali Khan and Aamir Khan will star in the film as a police officer and gangster respectively.

9. Soorarai Pottru (Tamil)

Starring Suriya, Aparna Balamurali and Paresh Rawal, this action drama was loosely based on the real life of Simplifly Deccan founder GR Gopinath. The brilliant film was also screened at the 93rd Academy Awards. If reports are to be believed, Akshay Kumar is starring in the film as the lead in the official Hindi remake of the film, directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad who also directed the original film.

10. U-turn (Tamil and Telugu)

This mystery thriller, directed by Pawan Kumar, stars Samantha, Aadhi Pinisetty, Bhumika Chawla and Rahul Ravindran in key roles. The film, which is a remake of the director’s 2016 Kannada film of the same title, was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu languages.
