These days, Indian cinema pays a lot of attention to films from the South. As a result, many South Indian films are recreated or dubbed into Hindi. There are currently around 25 South Indian adaptation projects going on in Bollywood. Let’s have a look at some of them because bollywood lacks original scripts and they pretty much follow southern movies and remake in their own languages.
The Tamil and Telugu film industries are responsible for the majority of these remake productions. Ala… Telugu movies Vaikunthapurramuloo, Jersey, Hit, Naanthi and Chatrapaty are remade in Hindi. Tamil films adapted in Hindi include Kaidhi, Jigarthandaa, Anniyan, vikram Vethaa, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, Ratchasan, Thatham, Comaali, Maanaharam, Aruvi, Mannaadu, Surarai Potru and Master.
Malayalam films such as Driving Licence, Drishyam 2, Helen, Ayyapanum Koshiyum and Nayaattu have attracted interest from Hindi producers. Each of these films is currently undergoing remakes. U-Turn is a Kannada film which has made its way into the Hindi film industry. Apart from these films, many more South Indian reboots are on the way. This demonstrates that Indian cinema is currently dominated by regional material.
