Kajal Pisal enjoys celebrating Indian culture and its values

Actress Kajal Pisal, who is currently trying out the role of Asha in the TV show Sirf Tum, likes to celebrate Indian culture and its values. She says, “I am a spiritual person and I like to follow the legacy of celebrating our culture, our values. This year I skipped the fast for nine days, but I still offer my prayers and I celebrates the Navratri. The nine nights of the festival are devoted to different aspects of the divine feminine principle, shakti. Generally, the first part of the festival focuses on aspects of Goddess Durga, the second and third on Goddess Lakshmi, and the last third on the goddess Sarasvati.”

She continues, “I personally enjoy cooking offerings for the Goddess and performing rituals in their honor. The most important ritual is Kanya Puja, which takes place on the ninth day. In this ritual, we invite nine maidens as nine incarnations of the Goddess, who are celebrated during Navratri and worship them with ritual washing of feet and offering offerings such as food and clothing.”

Kajal, who has also starred in shows like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and Naagin 5, believes in the power wielded by Goddess Durga among other things. She adds, “I am a follower of Devi. Goddess Durga symbolizes the divine forces of positive energy known as divine shakti (feminine energy/power) which is used against the negative forces of evil and wickedness. Goddess Durga is believed to be the combined form of powers of health, wealth and knowledge. She represents the power of the Supreme Being who upholds moral order and righteousness in creation. She always protects us from evil and misery by destroying evil forces, negative energy and vices – arrogance, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger, greed and selfishness.”
